Lot 891

Coins, China, Szechuan-Shensi Soviet Republic. KM 510.5, 200 cash 1933 (?). 18.80 g. Rim damage at date on obverse. Interesting example where the date "19" is clearly visible, the last digit appears to be a 5 in chinese characters in certain angles, but could also be a 3. The obverse at left shows three horizontal lines as opposed to CL-SWA.11 (1933 date) showing four horizontal lines. The reverse shows "CC*C" with a star in the design which is also unlike CL-SWA.11-13. Potentially the star is a countermark added later and thus causing the rim issue. Moreover the hammer has a wide and textured shaft which is not present on either of the illustrated example in CL or Duan references. A similar example was sold in SBP September 2021 lot number 21570. A very interesting study piece for the specialist. F.
