India, states. Collection mostly used on leaves. A very good used collection with several hundred stamps, all one of a kind, put together over 30 years, beginning with the state of Alwar onwards. Highlights include Bhopal with the good 1935/36 o/ps cataloguing several 100s of pounds inc Service etc, a useful ranges of Charkahri, then complicated and very interesting Cochin, on to Hyderabad, from the 19th century onwards, again with a challenging range of overprints in red and black, as well as double coloured o/ps through to Indore inc 2rps used, SG #42 cat £275, Jaipur with the 1rp o/p on 5rps SG #69 cat £160, as well as the 1932 Maharaja Sawai issues complete to 1rp with 'postage' inscription #56, #58 to #67 cat £850, and the 'postage and revenue' inscription SG #52 to #56 with catalogue value £450 etc. Also seen Las Bela, excellent Rajastan inc 1950 SG #15 to #24 cat £900, followed by extensive Travancore with these elusive stamps, page after page all looking very impressive to study and research. A joy to view, the catalogue is enormous, probably £10K+++, notwithstanding that some cancels will be by favour or not of the time. Overall, a serious collection with much more here than described, sleepers likely, a must view for the INS collector or dealer. Please see a selection of scans at www.philea.se.
