Britain. Used. If quality is the hallmark of your collecting penny reds, then this outstanding accumulation, housed in five volumes is absolutely recommended. Primarily but by no means exclusively, penny red stars – and there must be about 1000 per book, in the order of 5000 stamps. It is interesting apart from the tip-top quality to consider the methodology of this collector, apart from the quality he sought. From what we can see, it is postmarks, rather than sheet reconstructions – however the expert in this field will no doubt see other different dimensions as well. Such a good old fashioned holding of the line engraved issues is seldom available today, it is offered intact, as received. The catalogue must be in the order £100,000, an average of £20 per stamp, substantially more however for the stars. Show less

Some of the better countries inc Cyprus with first wmk to 18pi and second wmk 1924 to 45pi, Rhodesia admiral heads both perf 14 and 15 inc imprints on 4d and 5d, Seychelles 1912 2rps to 5cts and further defins to 1rp 50 on to the 1921/4 well worth investigating, again to the high values, Turks and Caicos to 3/- and lots of interesting war tax o/ps, Samoa with admirals 2/- and 3/-, as well as a few long defins, Palestine inc the key value the 90pr, useful Sarawak, great New Zealand with an extensive study of different perfs, Malaya, Transjordan when part of BC to 200mils, lots of British Africa through to Zanzibar. Time does not permit further description, other to say all the colours here are rich, hardly exposed to light and of course unchecked for varieties that were not considered at the time of collecting, many decades ago. It is therefore highly likely that there will be a good number of finds to make on SG 'a' and 'b' numbers. A very substantial holding of thousands of stamps, mint and used, particularly in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland which is very extensive, similarly the Dominion of Canada from early QV through to the small heads/large heads, the Christmas issue, widow heads to 20 cents, Quebec to 20 cents high value, substantial EDII/KGV…and then the whole accumulation starts again! As before, very strong in classics, here by the hundreds, for the most part chronologically ordered but not precisely. While some have been identified by SG, any prices corresponding to that are way out of date. We have no doubt that this outstanding range – which has the potential for several collections – will catalogue way in excess of the equivalent of 150,000 SEK. Condition as to be expected is mixed, however there are some very pleasant surprises, particularly amongst the mint multiples of KGV revenues never hinged etc. Ideal for a dealer to replenish stocks or any collector looking for a big project on BNA. Two airmail covers, KGV, one being combination/Cyrpus 2 ½pi with GB KGV ½d arrival block cypher – the other cover is even scarcer, this being the 1932 England/Cyprus first airmail from Southend on Sea to Limassol, however limited to a very short airmail service with only a few covers extant, full of postmarks, manuscript markings, cachets, etc. There are four stamps here, three of which are different GB KGV block cypher, making the 3 ½d correct rate of the time. The first page starts with Ceres heads through to 1fr carmine x2, as well as 'B' under neck 1852 - this is the start of a parallel mint and used collection. Highlights inc 2x 20cts unused, as well as superb appearance 15cts green used yet with a 3mm tear., both of the 1fr are 3 margins and the rest, mostly, are 4 margined inc a superb 25cts and pair of 1852s huge margins. This page alone has a min cat of €6000. The second page of Napoleon Empire, perf and imperf types, many 4 margined inc a probable MNH (!) 25cts Mi #14, as well as a 5cts Mi #11, although this has matted gum and then a 4 margined 80cts Mi #16, original gum but probably the least expensive shade Mi #16c, the 'mattrosa'. The min cat of this page alone is again well over €6000. The third page has 2x 5fr Napoleons with the usual security thins, as well as unused perf type 1ct (x2 shades), 2cts, 4cts, 20cts (x2 shades), 30cts, 40cts and all of the same used and the Ceres perf Repub Mi #33 to #35 mint/unused. The min cat on this page is again well over €6000. Finally in the imperfs, there are the Bordeaux with 4 margins 1ct, 2cts, 4cts, 30cts and 80cts unused, all sound appearance, rich colours + used to the 80cts with the 30cts, 40cts and 80cts all 4 margins, the catalogue on this page is €4000+. Then further studies mint and used of the Repub Ceres types of 1871/75 with a good range of unused and used to 80cts, this page with a min cat over €2000 - min total €24,000++ for the first 5 pages. Then an extensive range of 'peace and commerce' types much identified by Yvert with values mint and used to 5fr, just the 'B' under types comes to, yet again, €6000. Then the second type housed in a further 6 pages, well filled, with at least €4000 on this section alone. Then the postage dues imperfs inc mint 10cts x2, both types of the 15cts, then the 60cts blue, through to the next 3 partial sets up to 1935 with most values represented and no doubt a very high cat here too. Then follows 20th century inc a good range of Mouchon and Merson types inc etc key value 2fr MLH, all part of a well filled parallel mint and used, from this point onwards. This applies, for example, to the first sower definitive and virtually all defins thereafter with occasional MNH and of course superb used, leading on to the more obvious 1923 Bordeaux M&U, first m/s of 1935 again M&U, (these 2 alone cat €4400), the heart of the Strasbourg MNH, the Le Havre M&U, all the sinking funds and if the 1929 types to 20fr Pont Du Gard are right types as placed, many 1000s of euro here as well. Also seen 1930s 2 PEXIP M&U, the 10fr plane over globe green, the first airmails sets o/ps all parallel mint and used. Also noticed a superb EIPA perf-in used, the 50fr plane over Paris and the 50fr banknote, ending with lots of good back of the book, the affranchis, F.M. o/p types, early Postes Paris '1920 - 22' o/ps, etc, etc. We project a catalogue well in excess of €60,000, however the condition in the classics is mixed, as to be expected with some superb present as well. A real opportunity to buy a collector's collection loaded with seldom seen material. A joy to view, much more here to discover, spending time on this is highly recommended. Show less

As far as we can see virtually everything is here for the period in good quality. Some of the highlights include the various WW2 definitives, as well as unlisted 'R.F.' Petain o/p issues, similarly se-tenant strips of the same, again superb MNH and used, good postage dues, as well as further unlisted during WW2. Then the regular issues of France from mid 1945 onwards, nearly everything you would expect again with the used hidden behind the mint, through to the good early sets of the 1950s on to every other decade inc useful 'affranchis', large m/s of the rocket for Philatec, strong in defins and coils as well, as is similarly the case with the postage dues, etc. Just a great collection of this period, spanning 46 years, no doubt a very substantial catalogue. The gamut of condition here and it is not presented in alphabetical order and sometimes needs work. Highlights inc NGC with dozens of stamps, very attractive 3 pages with coloured postmarks, straightlines, all denominations, then follows Saxony to the left and right side profiles, again both by the dozens with values to 5ngr, next is Wurttemberg from various imperfs and a subsequent range of definitives, then Hannover shields and profile issues, followed by Baden shields and far more in the coat of arms types, mostly used, again all looking very impressive. Next follows New Brunswick with the running horse both perf and imperf, then Prussia with two dozen or so imperfs, loads of shield issues here, as well as Thurn and Taxis, with many better stamps, virtually all used, other areas inc Bergerdorf through to Hamburg, the German States finally ending with Oldenburg, imperfs Bavaria, etc, etc. There is also a very good German Empire with at least 75+ examples in both categories of dual currencies first issues to research. Used. 3 substantial albums, all written up, with as far as we can see virtually every town and village for this region, there must be around 500 stamps per album, from a collection formed 75 years ago, so about 1500 stamps. One album with the Hindenburg heads overprints represents Achenheim to Mothern, the second album of the same type from Muenster through to Zabern/Zillusheim and then the third album with various Hitler heads, ending with various bahnposts. Please note that everything is on piece in uniformly excellent condition as well as , occasional multiples present. To form a collection like this today would be difficult, so comprehensive that it would almost be impossible. Furthermore, many of these German name smaller towns/villages no longer exist today.
