Afghanistan. ★/⊙. Wonderful collection of exhibition standard, representing one man's lifetime work, including both stamps and postal history, well integrated and written up. Beginning with the early tiger issues of 1871 onwards, there are a dozen or so here with better mint as well as used, for the Kingdom of Kabul with different papers from thin wove and medium laid, also 3 scarce first tiger covers. Then the 1876/77 tiger types, again mint and used with over 30 imperf examples mainly cut to shape cancels, as well as 4 covers usual segmented types, then on to the 1880/90 again with 17 examples including cross pmks, segmented, negative seal, manuscript, non segmented from the abasi to rupee denominations. This is accompanied by same issue with an extraordinary 16 imperf covers, manuscript star cancels, all tied and no doubt rare material, as written up as such, colour postmarks range from purple to mauve, to black and red, even orange, all of which would benefit from modern scholarship today, as this was last collected in the early 1960s. Collection further unfolds to 1891/92 types inc block of 4 registrations, different pelure papers, lithograph printing with at least 3 dozen stamps here inc superb 1891 1 abasi with well struck red cancel on the back of a cover, etc through to 20th century, also with a very good range of the large parcel posts from the 3 shahi, 1 kran, 1 + 2 rupees both perf and imperf, 1 stamp even with the fixing screws imprints on top and side! So much more here inc tete-beche, interpanneau, imperf betweens, both imperf and perforated proofs, etc. In sum, an outstanding old time collection, offered intact as received. Canada, Nova Scotia. ★/⊙. Beautiful well written up collection on old quadrille album pages of the Cameo profile types and Chalons, primarily mint, often in blocks or strips of 4 inc imprints. Starting with1860/63 definitive issues on both yellowish and white papers inc varieties from the 1ct jet black through to 17 1/2cts black. There are at about 250 stamps with a good number mint never hinged! This is without doubt one of the most extensive studies and types of QV that we have seen in a collection format and offered intact as received. Outstanding collection from 1874 onwards with many 100s of stamps, well presented with much 'outside the box', including occasional MNH such as the 1899 defins high values, seldom seen as such. Also present material unlisted in the catalogues, often in the added pages. The 20th century also comprehensive with many scarce items, not just in the obvious definitive and commemorative sets, also good o/ps and varieties, etc. A collection that gets better and better on each close inspection with much more here than described, it will delight the specialist with distinct possibility of discoveries. South Africa, Cape of Good Hope. Used. Charming collection housed on album leaves with a dozen triangles inc a 4d Woodblock with thin spot SG #14 cat £2750. The other 11 examples include the blue paper 1d deep brick red and the 4d again on blued, 3x different shades inc different printings of the 1d, all decent with margins, very probably SG #5, #5a, #18, as well as penny with revenue manuscript cancels, as well as a 4d steel blue, SG #19c cat £500, 2x further 6ds, probably SG #7 and #20 cat £625, 2x further 1/- inc emerald green SG #8 and #21 min cat £550 and £750, then the sitting hopes virtually complete with nearly all the different types to EDVII to 5/- mint and used complete. Very min cat on this strong CGH collection is £8000. Mixed quality. Show less
