Lot 4755 Db

Ireland. Revenues. A lifetime's collection of a 1000++ of these interesting and elusive issues, not just 19th and early 20th century when part of the UK, but is also very good sections of the Irish Free State from the early 1920s through to 1947 inc the Gaelic transition o/ps. The collection also continues post 1947 for the republic Eire. Overwhelmingly written up on album leaves accompanied by dozens of original documents with revenues from QV, there are also occasional stockcard insertions among the pages in the album for the various categories, including large multiples of the dog license unused 2/- value and singles of the 4/- values, as well as same used up to 10/-. We note QV crown 'perf-ins', as well as a good range of embossed including seals of justice and the 'Landed Estate', similarly embossed for the Supreme Court of Judicature, specimen overprints QV and further long revs o/p Ireland and regular QV to £1, etc. The EDVII a similar pattern inc mint pairs through to £, followed by QV Petty Sessions mint multiples, leading on to KGV. Even in the post 1947 Republic era there is great strength in the long harp values, followed by a good range of insurance stamps, again in occasional multiples of each. This description is only the tip of the iceberg! The collector has built this up over 40 years. Sometimes out of order as he incorporated his 'work in progress' into it. An amazing collection with plenty of scarce material, ideal for a dealer or collector, every inspection makes new discoveries.
