Svenska samlingar är ett samlingsbegrepp för en mängd olika områden. Grundläggande torde vara att det finns något slags struktur i det som samlats. Annars får det nog kallas parti med frimärken/brev/kort eller fyndlåda eller vad det nu är.

En betydande del av det som Philea erbjuder vid sina auktioner är samlingar och partier. Vill du sälja så tar Philea hand om allt du lämnar in och bearbetar inlämningen till lämpliga samlingar eller partier som auktionsobjekt.

En samling kan bestå av ostämplade (postfriska) frimärken, stämplade frimärken eller en blandning. De kan fokuseras på en viss tidsperiod (exvis skilling banco eller Oscar II-perioden), ett geografiskt område (exvis Södermanland, Västgötabanan), ett särskilt tema (exvis sport), stämplar under en viss tidsperiod, olika slags stämplar eller omfatta alla utgivna frimärken.

Postens kilovaror med klipp av paketavier från 1940-talet och framåt är ett samlingsområde i sig. Ett annat samlingsområde är att kunna beskriva postens tjänster kopplat till en specifik frimärksutgåva ( exvis serien Tre Kronor som gavs ut under lång tid). Då ska man också inkludera olika slags försändelser (postala dokument) som ger exempel på dessa tjänster.

Häften med frimärken är ett särskilt samlingsområde. Då söker man frimärkshäften med postens olika markeringar (cylindersiffror, ryggtryck, kontrollnummer mm) men även varianter (fel) vid tryckning av såväl frimärken som häftesomslag. I detta samlingsområde ingår även miniark och souvenirark som blivit allt vanligare under senare år, särskilt sedan PostNord började med självhäftande frimärken.

En brevsamling kan utformas på en mängd olika sätt. Emigrantbrev mellan USA och Sverige är ett samlingsområde liksom brev till och från kända svenskar eller brev kopplade till en viss plats (trakt) eller familj. Brev som censurerats på sin väg till Sverige lockar rätt många samlare. Brev med någon militär anknytning (fältpost, krigsfångepost, censurbrev, brev till och från områden där svensk militär deltagit mm) är det många som intresserar sig för. Här finns det intressanta objekt ända tillbaka till 1500-talet, d v s långt före ”frimärkstid”.

Helsaker är ett särskilt samlingsområde. En helsak är ett kort eller ett kuvert där en tryckt värdestämpel ersätter frimärket. Det finns en mängd olika helsaker och många gånger finns det olika slags varianter som uppkommit vid tryckningen. Helsaker kan, med fördel, ingå i en posthistorisk samling.

Vykort kan samlas på en mängd olika sätt. En trakt eller ort, en del av en trakt/ort, ett tema (exvis reklam på vykort, politisk propaganda på vykort, båtar på vykort, kort skapade av viss konstnär) eller kort med motiv kopplat till en viss helg är olika sätt att samla.

Förstadags-, eller sistadagsstämplade objekt från postkontor är ett annat, lite annorlunda samlingsområde som är en del av det posthistoriska samlandet.

Posthistoriska samlingar innehåller i regel föremål av en mängd olika slag. Det som håller ihop samlingen är det historiska sammanhanget.
