Interesting letter content 7 written pages, that is the final decision of the King regarding the sentence in Svea Court of Appeal and Supreme Court (Högsta domstolen) about his forced actions on Gotland during the Russian occupation 1808 from their Commander Rear Admiral Bodisko. The sentences for his crime (handing over Swedish supplies and food to the Russians) was first to lose his right hand, beheaded and his dead body hanged in chains on public display. The sentence was changed in this document to e.g. five years in prison (Carlsten). Dated Stockholm 11 January 1810, signed Carl and with his royal paper seal attached with a blue-yellow thread through the whole document. Transcript enclosed and a postcard of the king. Svenska frimärken och försändelser omfattar en mängd möjliga samlingsområden. Det enskilda föremålet är, i sig, inget egentligt samlingsområde utan det är när man sätter samman ett antal objekt med någon gemensam nämnare som det blir en samling.

Svenska frimärken ger en spännande inblick i Sveriges historia, kultur, natur, vetenskapliga landvinningar, berömda personligheter och mycket, mycket mer. Frimärken delas ibland in i kategorierna bruksfrimärken, jubileumsfrimärken, välgörenhetsfrimärken, tjänstefrimärken, lösenfrimärken och övriga frimärken.

Ostämplade frimärken med eller utan varianter, stämplade frimärken, olika ortsstämplar, stämplar från ett visst geografiskt område (exvis län) är bara några exempel på hur man kan samla. Man söker stämplar som är placerade mitt på frimärket, rättvända och med all information i stämpeln läsbar. En viss frimärksutgåva, exvis skilling banco eller Gustaf V Medaljong, är ett sätt att samla. Samlar man ostämplade frimärken ska dessa, i regel, vara med oskadad originalgummering på baksidan. För de allra äldsta svenska frimärkena är dock detta nästan omöjligt.

Provtryck, frimärken med visst tema, feltryckta frimärken eller olika slags s k miniark (block) med frimärken är också samlingsområden inom denna kategori, eller kan ingå i samlandet av en viss frimärksutgåva. Feltryckta frimärken kan vara väldigt eftertraktade, och därmed dyra.

Häften med frimärken är ett särskilt samlingsområde. Där söker man häften med postens olika markeringar (cylindersiffror, ryggtryck, kontrollnummer mm) men även varianter (fel) vid tryckning av såväl frimärken som häftesomslag.

Brev och handskrifter ingår i denna kategori också liksom dokument med anknytning till postverksamhet samt postens olika blanketter och etiketter. Att beskriva ett geografiskt områdes posthistoria med brev, frimärken, dokument mm är ett populärt sätt att samla, där även annat än frimärken och rena försändelser ingår. Ett annat sätt att samla är att beskriva typer av posttjänster såsom lösenbrev, censurbrev, krigsfångepost eller flygpost. Även brev, dokument och försändelser ”före frimärkstid”, d v s före 1855, bör vara med om sådana finns. Det kallas förfilateli.

När man letar efter objekt till sin samling kan det vara lönsamt att söka s k utförsäljningsobjekt, d v s objekt som säljs till särskilt lågt pris. Många gånger är det just sådant material som saknas i den egna samlingen och därmed fyller igen en förarglig lucka.
