Mostly used A very well presented collection in 3 albums of the 1865 to 1892 Duloz design Crescent and Star issues, one album being the mint issues to 5pi with a wonderful range providing various shades and perforations, blocks of 4 and pairs, both Paris and Constantinople printings and with further work to be done separating the different types of Arabic overprints, the 1876 surcharges include a block of 4 of the 5 Pres on 5pi, then a further two albums with the corresponding used issues, also with pairs and blocks, again having shades, perfs and overprint types to work on, but with the additional appeal of the postmarks, ranging from cds's, bilingual types, Arabic cancels both circular and boxed rectangular, negative seals and more, some of which have been identified, but providing a fantastic opportunity to spot furthermore of the elusive Holyland locations. An excellent study of the Empire issue 1876-1890 Crescent type, with parallel collections both mint and used in two albums, beautifully presented, including both the postage and p.dues, having vals from the 5pa to 5pi in various colours and with a useful range of shades, some on thin paper, with different perforations noted, a few pairs, much interest in the wide range of postmarks with cancels in black and in blue, both Arabic and bilingual cancels which would prove fascinating to study for the various "used in Holyland" locations, negative seal types, boxed cancels, lozenge types and many different cds's, perfect to expand on and to find some hidden gems. The mint is virtually all superb MNH and the used all sound. Nearly everything has catalogue numbers and while, strictly speaking, not in absolute chronological order, it is clear that the catalogue potential runs into many 1000s of euro including back of the book. So many different topics here, as well, making it not only suitable for any dealer of the Middle East, also ideal for the thematic collector or dealer. Utomnorden omfattar samlingar som täcker ett land eller ett geografiskt område. I detta kan man även inkludera eventuella tidigare kolonier eller förvaltarskapsområden. Detta gäller främst Belgien, Frankrike, Italien, Nederländerna, Portugal, Spanien, Storbritannien och USA. Här inkluderas även särskilda ockupationsutgåvor med anknytning till 1. och 2. världskriget.

Ryssland/Sovjetunionen fram till 1991 innehåller en mängd intressanta samlingsområden, främst från perioden 1917-1923 med revolution, inbördeskrig och konsolidering av Sovjetunionen. På motsvarande sätt finns det ett antal samlingsområden inom Kina från början av 1900-talet till våra dagar (många handelsstationer, kristna missionsstationer, inbördeskrig, japansk ockupation mm).

Generellt kan sägas att länder med komplex politisk historia också erbjuder stora möjligheter beträffande frimärken, brev och försändelser. Många länder har därutöver särskilda utgåvor för paketpost, telegraftjänster, myndighetsbrev, internationella organisationer som finns i landet eller har verkat i landet etc.

Phileas auktioner har alltid ett särskilt avsnitt ”Utomnorden” och ett avsnitt ”Utomeuropa”. Här finns det möjligheter att göra riktiga fynd. Phileas stora internationella kundkrets gör också att vi når fram till köpare över hela världen.

En samling kan bestå av ostämplade (postfriska) frimärken, stämplade frimärken eller en blandning. De kan fokuseras på en viss tidsperiod (exvis fram till 1920, eller mellankrigstiden), ett geografiskt område (exvis länderna på Balkan innan Jugoslavien skapades), ett särskilt tema (CEPT, internationella konferenser) eller omfatta alla utgivna frimärken.

En brevsamling kan utformas på en mängd olika sätt. Brev som har koppling till en kädn person eller familj eller kopplade till en viss plats (trakt) kan vara intressanta, liksom brev som censurerats. Brev med någon militär anknytning (fältpost, krigsfångepost, censurbrev) är det många som intresserar sig för. Brev till utrikes destinationer (särskilt från andra halvan av 1800-talet) kan vara eftersökta. Här finns det intressanta objekt ända tillbaka till 1500-talet, d v s långt före ”frimärkstid”.

Helsaker är ett särskilt samlingsområde nästan oavsett vilket land man samlar. En helsak är ett kort eller ett kuvert där en tryckt värdestämpel ersätter frimärket. Det finns en mängd olika helsaker och många gånger finns det olika slags varianter som uppkommit vid tryckningen. Helsaker kan, med fördel, också ingå i en posthistorisk samling.

Vykort kan samlas på en mängd olika sätt. En trakt eller ort, en del av en trakt/ort, ett tema (exvis reklam på vykort, politisk propaganda på vykort, båtar på vykort, kort skapade av viss konstnär) eller kort med motiv kopplat till en viss helg är olika sätt att samla.
